The journey to this award started in recent months with our investment in 10 new, top of the range lithium battery buggies, a new, fully stocked golf-shop, internal resources/systems developed and the re-design of the 18th and 3rd greens all inside year 1. The investment is in the region of €250,000 and has been funded by a strong fundraising committee within the club, Golf Ireland grant and Sports Capital funding – all allowing for minimal borrowings. It paves the way to a 5-to-10-year strategic plan beginning in 2023 and driven by our golf team and Committee of Management. This plan envisions the development of the internal areas of the clubhouse and the upgrading of machinery on the course to provide a top performing playing surface into the future. All these developments will be driven by a modern approach to the marketing of the Portumna Golf Club brand.
